Man held over Gloucester riots allegations

A man has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice following the riots in Gloucester.

The 20-year-old was arrested over allegations made to police about people involved in the disturbances of 9 August.

Police said the allegations led them to "pursue inquiries against those people, who are now not believed to be involved in the disorder".

The man is being questioned by officers at Gloucester Police Station.

A total of 38 arrests have been made since the disorder in which shops were looted, windows were smashed and a derelict building was set on fire.
