New parking restrictions to be introduced in Cheltenham

Changes to parking restrictions are being introduced in the town hall area of Cheltenham in early 2012.

Gloucestershire Council has consulted residents and traders in the area to help make parking easier and fairer.

Proposals include reducing waiting restrictions and parking charges and introducing an event permit to support festivals held in Imperial Square.

A council spokesman said it was working to ensure the "best possible outcome for residents, traders and shoppers".

Work to install the new restrictions and pay and display meters will take place throughout January 2012, and will come into force by early February.
