Crashes take place in Gloucestershire on icy roads

Minor crashes have happened across Gloucestershire after widespread ice on roads, police have said.

A 36-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment after his car struck a bus stop in Minsterworth at 06:15 GMT.

A car overturned on the A419 in Cirencester and in Bibury three cars were involved in a collision earlier. No serious injuries have been reported.

Insp Jason Keates said: "At this time of year the weather can create poor driving conditions."

He added: "It is always worth considering the road conditions before you set out on a journey in winter and, if the roads are particularly bad, you should consider whether your journey is really necessary.

"The highways authorities will take appropriate measures to keep roads treated and we will attend and assist people who get into serious difficulties, but it is important that we all do our bit to look after ourselves and our own safety."
