Ram and ewe drown after dog chase in Gloucestershire
Two sheep have drowned after they are believed to have been chased into a brook by dogs.
Gloucestershire Police said two dogs were seen chasing sheep in a field on Mill Lane in Stoke Orchard, Cheltenham, on Wednesday morning.
A ram and a ewe drowned while a third sheep was rescued from the water.
A total of nine sheep are thought to have been killed by dogs in Gloucestershire over the past few weeks.
Police have now issued an "urgent appeal" to dog owners to keep their animals under control.
PC Di Butler said: "One ram killed in these incidents was brought in to increase stock and will now have to be replaced at great expense.
"Many of the sheep that were chased and injured were carrying lambs and these incidents can also cause the ewe to miscarry."
