A 31-year-old man from Gloucester has been arrested on suspicion of murder by police investigating the disappearance of a woman from the Coney Hill area.

Kokulavathani Mayuran, 31 and originally from Sri Lanka, was last seen on 31 January and reported missing two days later.

The man was arrested earlier and is being questioned by police.

Officers said they were "extremely concerned" for her welfare and are appealing for information.

Detective Superintendent Simon Atkinson said: "We really need to find out everything we can about this lady and we would like to speak to anyone who knows her."

Ms Mayuran is described as being around 5ft 4in tall with a heavy build. She has long dark hair and it is thought she could have been wearing a long black coat.
