Cheltenham A40 closed after cyclist injured in collision

A cyclist has sustained "life-threatening injuries" after colliding with a lorry on the A40 in Cheltenham.

The man was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital and police closed a section of London Road while investigations took place.

Insp Andy Poole said traffic was in "complete chaos" and urged motorists to avoid the area completely.

A road closure was put in place between Old Bath Road and the Holy Apostles junction.

Emergency services were called to the scene after the collision, which happened at 15:30 BST, near the Sandford Mill road junction.
