Elmbridge Transport Scheme £16.5m plans published

Revised plans for a £16.5m scheme improving transport links between Gloucester and Cheltenham have been published.

Elmbridge Court roundabout links Gloucester and Cheltenham along the A40 Golden Valley Bypass.

The proposals include a new junction on the A40 and access changes to Elmbridge Court and Arle Court roundabouts.

A park-and-ride next to Elmbridge Court Business Park with access off the A40 has already been approved.

Public consultation

The improvements were identified as necessary in the Gloucestershire Local Plan which found current traffic levels at a point where congestion had started to become an issue.

In December 2012, ministers agreed to release £14m (of the total £16.5m cost) towards the Elmbridge Transport Scheme.

Gloucestershire County Council said it would contribute the shortfall of £2.5m.

A public consultation on the revised plans is taking place until 11 March.
