Appeal to identify River Severn severed foot
Fresh efforts are being made to identify the owner of a severed human foot found on a riverbank in Gloucestershire nearly four years ago.
The decomposed foot was found by a couple walking along the River Severn in Deerhurst, near Odda's Chapel, in March 2009.
DNA tests confirmed it belonged to a man, likely to have been white, older than 17 and 5ft 3ins to 5ft 8ins-tall.
Police are working with UK Missing Persons and other forces on the case.
The search of the area in 2009, which included dredging the river, involved specialist search officers, the Severn Area Rescue Association and the police helicopter.
Following the discovery inquiries were made into missing people across the UK, a police spokesperson said.
The foot was found in a size nine and a half Vision-brand trainer and a dark grey sock.
The trainer was grey and blue with a white rubber sole and a blue V logo on the side.
