A police inquiry into a rape allegation made by a 19-year-old woman has been dropped after she confirmed the attack did not happen.

Officers were called on 29 January to reports the victim had been assaulted by two men near the University of Gloucestershire's Oxstalls Lane campus.

A force spokesman said the incident had been reported to police by a third party in good faith.

He added no police action would be taken against the woman.
