Cheltenham man killed in collision at Park Place and Andover Road junction

A 45-year-old man has died in a collision between two cars in Cheltenham.

The accident happened early on Saturday at the junction of Park Place and Andover Road between a grey Mitsubishi Grandis and a silver Audi A4.

The driver of the Mitsubishi died at the scene, a Gloucestershire Police spokesman said.

The Audi driver, a 22-year-old local man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was treated for minor injuries in hospital and remains in police custody.

Roads around the accident site remain closed while collision investigators examine the scene.

In a separate and unrelated incident, at 03:25 BST a black Vauxhall Astra struck two parked cars in Northway Lane, Tewkesbury.

Police said both parked cars were "completely written off" as a result.

A 21-year-old man suffered minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of drinking and driving.
