Archery academy opens at Hartpury College
A new archery academy for the south of England has opened in Gloucestershire.
The facility at Hartpury College near Gloucester is one of three new academies to be opened by Archery GB this month.
Others to have opened are at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Shropshire and in East Yorkshire.
The regional centre of excellence will train 10 to 16 year olds with the hope they will become world class archers and represent their country.
Some of the youngsters have already represented Great Britain at junior European and world level.
Ceriann Davies, from Archery GB, said: "The performance academies will provide promising young archers a performance pathway with the best coaching and facilities available.
"These athletes are eight to 12 years away from becoming world class archers capable of medalling on the world stage."
Phil de Glanville, director of elite sport at Hartpury College, said: "It's a fantastic opportunity for us to be able to team up with Archery GB and continue to help develop young sporting talent."
