Planning permission has been granted for a new multi-screen cinema complex in Cirencester.

Cotswold District Council approved Wildmoor Properties' plans for the development to be built in the Brewery Court area.

The proposal includes a four-screen cinema, shops, restaurants, cafes and student accommodation.

Cotswold MP Godfrey Clifton-Brown says it will provide "much-need facilities, particularly for younger people".

He said: "I am absolutely delighted that everybody has pulled together to secure a really good future for the town."

The town's previous cinema, The Regal, closed in 2003.
