Two homes were evacuated overnight after a known landslip site in Gloucestershire was affected by heavy rain.

The B4058 Nailsworth to Horsley road, near Stroud, was closed on Monday as a precaution.

Sandbags were placed on the road to protect properties from debris sliding down the embankment.

Gloucestershire highways department is carrying out an investigation at the site.

The area has already been the subject of some corrective work earlier in 2013.

Investigations will reveal whether some further corrective work could be brought forward in the new year.
