Community hospital hours cut due to staff shortage

Opening times at a hospital in Gloucestershire have been temporarily cut because of a shortage of nurses.

The minor injuries unit at Vale Community Hospital in Dursley will be open from 10:00 through to 18:00 up until July.

Previously it was open from 08:00 to 20:00.

A spokesperson said Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust would be recruiting more specialist nurses over the next few months.

Susan Field, from the trust said: "This change in opening hours is in response to a shortage of nurses to manage the minor injuries services at Stroud and the Vale Hospitals.

"This will enable our team to continue to operate a clinically safe service for local people and reflect the times where there is the highest demand for minor injuries services at the Vale, as well as enabling us to keep the service at Stroud General Hospital running 24 hours a day."
