A group of suspected illegal immigrants have been detained after fleeing from a parked lorry in the Forest of Dean.

About 13 men, believed to be aged in their twenties, were seen jumping from a lorry that had travelled from Denmark and running into nearby woodland.

Gloucestershire Police sent officers and a dog unit to the Forest Vale Industrial Estate in Cinderford and said a few men were still on the run.

The group will be handed over to the UK Border Agency once in custody.

A force spokesman said a report was received at 11:45 BST of a group of "illegal immigrants" jumping from the sealed container lorry.

Some of the men are reportedly from Vietnam and some from Iran.
