Driver arrested after woman dies in Forest of Dean collision
A driver has been arrested after his passenger was killed in a collision in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire.
A 22-year-old woman from Coleford died after the Nissan Primera she was in struck a telegraph pole on Wood Road, Mile End, at 01:00 BST on Sunday.
A 21-year-old man, also from Coleford, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.
Police said the road remains closed while investigations continue.
A spokesman for Gloucestershire Police said the driver had "failed to stop for police" before colliding with a telegraph pole.
"The woman was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol but died a short time later," he said.
"Her next of kin and the coroner have been informed."
The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
