The jury in the trial of eight people accused of murdering a man in Gloucester has heard the victim died after being stabbed in the neck.

Dolton Powell, 21, was attacked after a party at the All Nations Community Centre on 23 August last year.

Bristol Crown Court heard Mr Powell had remonstrated with the men after his friend was stabbed several times.

Eight men from Bristol are jointly accused of Mr Powell's murder under the joint enterprise law.

Prosecutors allege Jordan Barclay, 18, from Bristol inflicted the fatal wound.

Marzel Bolton, 20, Nico Daley, 18, Tyler Finch-Vassel, 19, Martell Hartford, 18, Josphat Mbuga, 19, Everton Spence, 19, and Cartel Williams, 19, are also accused of murder and wounding with intent.

Staggered across car park

The court heard that Mr Powell's friend, Elijah Sutherland, got into an argument with one of the group in the car park outside the community centre.

The men went back to a car and armed themselves with weapons, including knives, that were kept in the boot.

One of the group is then alleged to have stabbed Mr Sutherland in the arm, leg, back and hand.

It is claimed that Mr Powell remonstrated with the group and smashed the passenger window of their car before he was stabbed in the neck.

He staggered across the car park before collapsing and died "within a minute".

The defendants deny all charges against them.

The trial has been adjourned until Thursday.
