Royal marine seriously injured in Portsmouth crash

A Royal Marine suffered a fractured skull and a broken spine when he was hit by a car in Hampshire.

The collision happened at about 2315 BST on Monday in Anglesley Road, Portsmouth, when the man was hit by a Hyundai car.

The 24-year-old, temporarily based at HMS Nelson, was admitted to the Queen Alexandra Hospital.

The driver of the car, a 50-year-old man from the Havant area, was uninjured and police are appealing for witnesses.
