Woman charged over Southampton cyclist attack

A woman has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm after a cyclist was left with serious head injuries.

David Baker, 24, was in coma for almost two weeks after being assaulted on the Central Bridge, Southampton, on 8 June.

Stephanie Hill, 18, of Westbrook Way, Southampton, will appear before magistrates on 12 August.

John Smith, 26, of Tamella Road, Botley, has already been charged with the same offence and will also appear. Two other men have been bailed.

The victim, Mr Baker, has since regained consciousness and is making a gradual recovery, Hampshire police said.

However, detectives have said they did not know if he would be left with permanent brain damage.
