A cross-channel ferry could be out of service for the rest of the season after hitting a buoy in France.

LD Lines' high-speed catamaran, Norman Arrow, which runs from Portsmouth, crashed as it approached the port of Le Havre on Sunday.

The firm is currently not accepting any bookings for the ferry - a seasonal service due to finish in October.

Passengers with bookings are being moved to its freight service and other operators "for the foreseeable future".

Nobody was hurt in the collision and the vessel docked safely and passengers were able to continue their journeys.

The firm said an investigation was being carried out.
