Men with machete burst into Yateley pub

Two men armed with a machete burst into a Hampshire pub and threatened staff until they handed over cash.

The robbers targeted The Cricketers in Cricket Hill Lane, Yateley, just after midnight on Saturday, when customers were still inside and outside the pub.

Staff handed over a cash box from the ATM machine when the men threatened to slash them.

It is thought the robbers fled towards a small copse, but armed police and dog units were unable to trace them.

Local accent

No-one was hurt.

Det Sgt Richard Rowledge said: "This kind of incident is very unusual in a place like Yateley and we are doing out utmost to find those responsible as quickly as possible."

Police described the men as white, about 5ft to 5ft 10in, in their 20s and of slim to medium build. Both were wearing dark clothing.

One of the men is described as having dark, wavy hair and a local Hampshire accent.
