Southampton train disruption as work overruns
Rail passengers faced rush-hour delays of up to 40 minutes across the south of England after engineering work overran.
The line between Southampton and Basingstoke only reopened at about 0730 BST after works by Network Rail closed the line at the weekend.
Knock-on disruption affected journeys from Poole and Bournemouth up to London through Southampton.
Despite the line reopening, passengers faced longer journeys and diversions as services got back to normal.
South West Trains has apologised for the inconvenience caused.
A spokeswoman said all services were running on schedule by 1000 BST.
