Man seriously hurt falling from car in Southampton

A man has been injured falling from a moving car he may have been trying to escape from in Southampton.

The man was found lying in Portsmouth Road, Woolston, on Thursday night after falling from a VW Passat.

The injury is being connected to an earlier incident at a Ladbrokes betting shop in Victoria Road.

A man who had about £80 stolen got into a VW Passat to chase two suspects. Police believe the injured man might have been one of the suspects.

Man arrested

Shortly before the man was found in the road, police were also called to reports of a fight nearby, near to a car on the Itchen Bridge, which they believe is also linked.

Police want to speak to any witnesses to any of the incidents.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to a man who was seen with the injured man in Portsmouth Road.

A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and false imprisonment and was later released on bail until January.
