Driver dies after car hits tree near Basingstoke

A driver who was seriously injured when his car hit a tree in Hampshire has died in hospital.

Ian Terry, 42, of Black Dam, Basingstoke, was driving on the Farleigh Road near the town on Saturday at 1905 GMT when he lost control.

The Lexus 250 was travelling from Cliddesden towards the A339 at Basingstoke when it hit a tree on the offside verge.

Mr Terry was taken to North Hampshire Hospital with head and neck injuries .

He was later transferred to Southampton General Hospital.

He died in the early hours of Tuesday.
