Ringwood man charged over double stabbing

A man has been charged over an incident in which two men were stabbed in a Hampshire town.

Police were called to the junction of Clough's Road and Parsonage Barn Lane, Ringwood, at about 1415 GMT on New Year's Day.

They found two men aged 49 and 20 with serious knife injuries.

A 35-year-old man, of Clough's Road in Ringwood, has been charged with two counts of assault causing grievous bodily harm.

He is due to appear before Southampton Magistrates' Court on Monday.

A police spokeswoman said the 20-year-old victim had been discharged from hospital but the 49-year-old man remained in Southampton General Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
