Mutilated dead pony found in ditch in Greywell

A dead and mutilated pony has been discovered in a ditch in Hampshire.

Police said the animal was dumped on Hook Road in Greywell, near Hook, sometime between Christmas Day and 3 January.

They said the pony was white with brown spots and appeared to have suffered a trauma to its hip. It is not known if it was a male or a female.

Pc Stacy Beale appealed for witnesses and said: "At this stage we are unsure how this pony died."

She added: "However it would appear that its body has been mutilated to prevent it from being identified or its owners traced."
