Arrests made over Basingstoke takeaway attack

Three teenagers and a man have been arrested after a 72-year-old motorist was attacked in Hampshire.

The man was confronted on Tewkesbury Close, Basingstoke, on Monday as he was making his way to collect a takeaway.

Police said he had stopped his car but was dragged out and punched several times. He suffered a broken arm.

A 16-year-old boy, two 17-year-old boys and a 21-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Det Con Drew Wright, of Basingstoke CID, said: "This was a disgraceful act of aggression on an elderly man, who was simply going about his business.

"We are aware of discussions on social networking sites about this incident and would urge anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant it seems, to contact us."
