Southampton malaria nurse in court over sex attack
A male nurse who went missing while taking part in a malaria medical trial, sparking a police appeal, has appeared in court charged with sexual assault.
Matthew Lloyd, 35, who is also charged with common assault, pleaded not guilty to both charges at Southampton Magistrates' Court.
Mr Lloyd, of Shirley, Southampton, is accused of attacking a 20-year-old woman in the city in August 2010.
He will now face trial at Southampton Crown Court on 13 June.
Mr Lloyd was taking part in a malaria clinical trial in Oxford but missed an appointment in October, prompting fears for his health.
He made contact with Dutch police 12 days later.
