Southampton motorway to close overnight for repair work
A motorway in Hampshire will close for five nights to allow repair work to take place.
The M271 near Southampton, between junction three of the M27 and the A3057 Romsey Road roundabout, will close at 2200 GMT until 0530 GMT on Tuesday.
It will then be closed every night for the same time, until Saturday morning.
Clearly signed diversions will be in place but motorists should allow extra time for their journeys, the Highways Agency said.
Neil Andrew, Highways Agency route manager, said: "This work is essential to maintain road safety and provide an improved road surface on the M271.
"The work has been carefully planned to minimise disruption, and so will be carried out at night, when traffic flows are lowest. However we advise road users who are going to be affected by the work to allow extra time for their journeys."
