Driver dies after car hits tree in Hampshire

A driver has died after his car left the road in Hampshire.

The 37-year-old man was driving a Ford Escort on the A27 at Havant at about 0850 GMT when it left the carriageway and hit a tree.

The man suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth where he was pronounced dead.

Hampshire police said it was not clear why the car left the road and are appealing for witnesses.
