Man killed in Southampton bus crash named

A motorist killed in a collision between a bus and a car in Southampton has been named by police.

Stuart Gary Allen, 46, from Southampton, died when his Daewoo Espero collided with a double-decker bus shortly before 0800 GMT on Monday.

His passenger, a 54-year-old man, remains in Southampton General Hospital where his condition is described as critical stable.

The crash happened at the junction of Lodge Road and Cedar Road, Portswood.

Mr Allen died at the scene of the collision with the Bluestar bus, which was carrying 10 passengers.

His passenger had to be cut free from the car.

The driver and seven bus passengers were examined by paramedics. One was treated for minor injuries.

A spokesman for Bluestar said its thoughts were with the families of the driver and passenger and it was helping police as part of the investigation.
