Family pays tribute to Southampton bus crash driver

The family of a man who died when his car collided with a bus has paid tribute to him.

Stuart Gary Allen, 46, from Southampton, died when his Daewoo Espero hit a double-decker bus shortly before 0800 GMT on Monday.

Mr Allen's family said: "Stuart was a son, brother, uncle, nephew, godson and friend that everyone is so proud of."

His passenger, a 54-year-old man, was taken to hospital where his condition was described as critical stable.

The crash happened at the junction of Lodge Road and Cedar Road, Portswood.

Mr Allen died at the scene of the collision with the Bluestar bus, which was carrying 10 passengers.

His passenger had to be cut free from the car.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward as part of the investigation into the crash.
