A 32-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to the murder of an elderly woman at her country cottage more than three years ago.

Georgina Edmonds, 77, was found at her home in Brambridge, Hampshire, on 11 January 2008.

She was found dead by her son and a friend after he came home from work.

Matthew Hamlen, of Hamilton Road, Eastleigh, appeared at Winchester Crown Court earlier and has been remanded in custody.

A trial is expected to be held in November.

Ms Edmonds had lived in the grounds of her son's home.

A post-mortem examination found she died from extensive head injuries.

Police had offered a £30,000 reward in the hope of finding those responsible for her death.
