Man re-arrested over driving death on A340

A 58-year-old man has been re-arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving after a man died on the A340 in Hampshire.

David Hill, 51, of Stratfield Road, Basingstoke received serious head injuries in the collision, on 9 April, and died a month later.

Mr Hill was walking along the carriageway in Basingstoke when he was hit by a blue Cadillac car.

The driver has been released on bail until 27 June.

He had previously been arrested on suspicion of driving without due care and attention.

In a statement Mr Hill's family said: "We are deeply saddened at the loss of Dave.

"He was married to Deb for 20 years and leaves two sons and a daughter.

"Dave lived life to the full and urged others to do the same. He particularly enjoyed his music, football and going to quiz nights.

"Dave had a great many friends and acquaintances and will be missed by all who know him."
