A gas main ruptured and ignited during a fire which destroyed a house in Hampshire.

Crews were called to the mid-terraced property in Tobago Close, Basingstoke, at 1457 BST on Friday.

Fire engines from four stations were called to tackle the blaze and isolate the gas main.

Neighbouring properties were smoke damaged and the blaze was extinguished by 1726 BST. An investigation into the cause is under way.
