Aldershot murder inquiry after death of man

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 45-year-old man in Hampshire.

Officers who were called to Basing Drive, Aldershot, following reports of an altercation, found a man with serious injuries in the early hours.

He was taken to Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey, where he was later pronounced dead.

A 43-year-old man from Aldershot was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.

A post-mortem examination was due to be carried out on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior investigating officer, Det Ch Insp Chris Fitchet, said: "This investigation is still in the very early stages and we are carrying out a number of inquiries.

"I would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or has any information that can help with our investigation, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
