Aldershot murder detectives given more time

Detectives have been granted more time to question a man over the death of a 45-year-old in Hampshire.

Magistrates gave officers an extra 32 hours on Thursday afternoon to question a 43-year-old man from Aldershot being held on suspicion of murder.

He was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday following the death of Andrew Rickwood who was found in Basing Drive with serious injuries.

Mr Rickwood was pronounced dead at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey.

A 24-year-old, also from Aldershot, who was arrested on Wednesday evening on suspicion of murder, also remains in custody.

Hampshire Constabulary said 30 officers had been working on the case, speaking to witnesses, carrying out foresic examinations and house-to-house enquiries.

Det Ch Insp Chris Fitchet said: "We continue to make progress with this investigation but are still appealing for anyone who has any information to come forward.

"We still have some enquiries to carry out in the local community but aim to keep disruption to a minimum and thank those people affected for their co-operation."
