Man falls into hold of grain ship in Southampton docks

A man has been rescued by firefighters after falling into the hold of a grain ship berthed in Southampton's Eastern Docks.

Fire and ambulance crews received an emergency call at 01:22 BST.

Paramedics from the Hazardous Areas Response Team treated the man while he was still in the hold, before he was winched on to land.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment for potential spinal injuries.

The firefighters were on the scene for just over two hours.
