Man dies after horse bolts with trap in Hampshire
A man travelling in a horse trap has died in Hampshire after the animal bolted, throwing him into the road.
The 52-year-old, from Waterlooville, was travelling on the Hambledon Road towards Clanfield with a 40-year-old woman from Liss.
The woman got out of the trap to calm the animal when it became agitated but it bolted, dragging the man and the trap with it.
The trap struck a road sign and the man was thrown into the road.
He died later at Southampton General Hospital.
Officers said it was unclear why the horse had become distressed.
Hampshire police are appealing for the driver of a yellow Mini to come forward who may have witnessed the incident.
