Man killed by bolting horse in Hampshire is named

A man travelling in a horse trap who died in Hampshire after the animal bolted has been named by police.

Terrence Eastman, 52, was travelling on the Hambledon Road towards Clanfield with a 40-year-old woman from Liss when he was thrown from the trap.

Mr Eastman from Waterlooville, later died in Southampton General Hospital.

The woman got out of the trap to calm the animal when it became agitated but it bolted, dragging the man and the trap with it, police said.

The trap struck a road sign and the man was thrown into the road.

Officers said it was unclear why the horse had become distressed.

Hampshire police are appealing for the driver of a yellow Mini to come forward who may have witnessed the incident.
