Woman dies as coaches and car crash on A34 in Hampshire

An 81-year-old woman has died after a collision between two coaches and a car on a main route through Hampshire.

The vehicles collided on the A34 at Litchfield, north of Whitchurch, during the morning.

The woman, from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, who was travelling in the car, was taken to Southampton hospital, where she later died.

The driver of the car was also taken to hospital but his injuries were not life threatening, Hampshire Police said.

Two other people were treated at the scene.

The road was reopened at about 17:00 BST. Both coaches and the car, a silver Vauxhall Meriva, have been recovered by police.

Hampshire Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
