Two arrested after Odiham hit-and-run death
Two men have been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in Hampshire.
Jack Bland, 19, died after being struck by a car as he was walking on the unlit A287, near Odiham, in the early hours of Sunday.
He was found with serious injuries by a passer-by and was taken to hospital but he later died.
A man from Alton and another from Hook, both aged 19, have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.
The incident happened as Mr Bland, from Odiham, was walking between Crondall and the start of the Odiham bypass during heavy rain, between 02:30 BST and 03:30 BST.
The car then continued towards Odiham without stopping.
'Larger than life'
In a statement, his family said: "Jack's tragic, untimely death has left a huge void in our lives and deeply affected our family.
"Jack was a bright, intelligent young man who had a natural zest for life.
"He was known as a bit of a 'Jack the lad' among his many friends for his larger than life character and fun-loving antics.
"Jack was a loving son and brother who will be greatly missed by all who knew him."
A post-mortem examination is due to take place later.
Hampshire police are continuing to appeal for witnesses.
