Hand grenade causes Marchwood recycling centre evacuation
A Hampshire recycling centre was evacuated after a hand grenade was discovered by staff.
Police said an Army bomb disposal team had been sent to Marchwood Household Waste Recycling Centre and confirmed the device had never been activated.
A spokesman said it was a rusty WWII hand grenade which was probably a training aid and was unlikely ever to have been filled with explosive.
The recycling centre was shut as a precaution but has since reopened.
Staff and members of the public were kept out of the site from about 11:30 BST for about an hour while the bomb disposal team assessed the grenade.
