Motorcyclist dies in collision in Basingstoke
A motorcyclist has died in a collision with a car in Hampshire.
The man was riding a Suzuki motorbike on Basingstoke's ring road when he was involved in a crash with a Toyota Prius shortly before 15:00 BST.
Hampshire police said the 63-year-old from Basingstoke died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
Ringway Road South remained closed for more than six hours while officers inspected the crash scene. Motorists were being urged to avoid the area.
Officers said the motorcyclist was thrown from his bike when the vehicles crashed head on and burst into flames.
The Prius driver, a 39-year-old man from Waterlooville, was taken to North Hampshire Hospital.
