Portsmouth Harbour ferry death fall man identified

A man who died after falling from a ferry in Portsmouth has been named.

Richard McMaster, 39, of Northern Parade, Portsmouth, fell from an inbound Wightlink ferry from Fishbourne on the Isle of Wight on Sunday evening.

A search of the harbour was launched after cries of help were heard but Mr McMaster's body washed up on Hayling Island beach the following day.

His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner, police said.

Officers are trying to trace witnesses, including a young couple with a video camera at the Hot Walls in Portsmouth.

The search involved three lifeboats, a coastguard helicopter and a police boat.
