From music and fun to arts and events: Some suggestions of things to do in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.


Tudor games and pastimes can be enjoyed at the Mary Rose museum, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard until 1 January.

On 18 December a Toy and Model Collectors' Fair takes place at Fleming Park Leisure Centre, Eastleigh.

SEARCH, Hampshire Museums' Hands-On Centre, will hold a Victorian Christmas event on 20 December, with card and decoration making.

Arts & Culture

There will be a day of Hampshire traditions on 8 January at Manor Farm Country Park, Bursledon, including blessing the plough, wassailing the apple trees, and an eventful Mummers play featuring characters such as St George, the Doctor and olde Father Christmas.

A paper artwork exhibition is taking place at Mottisfont Abbey, near Romsey showcasing work by contemporary artists Rob Ryan, Ed Kluz, Jonny Hannah and Zoe Murphy. Until 11 January.

Peter Pan is on at the Anvil in Basingstoke until 2 January

The pantomime Sleeping Beauty will be performed at St Nicholas' Theatre in Fleet in Hampshire to raise funds for performing arts charity Starburst. Performances will be held on 18 December.

Must have... been something you said is an exhibition at the Aspex Gallery at Portsmouth's Gunwharf Quays featuring products and artworks inspired by or incorporating language or text. Open daily between 13:00 and 15:00 GMT until 30 December.

The family pantomime Cinderella starring Tracy Shaw (Coronation Street) and Marcus Patrick (Hollyoaks) is on at the Kings Theatre in Southsea until 1 January.

The Forgotten Emperor: Battles, Betrayal and Murder in Roman Britain exhibition at the Willis Museum in Basingstoke runs until 2 January.


Indie-pop band Friendly Fires will play at the Guildhall in Southampton on 16 December.

There will be Carols By Candlelight at The Lights in Andover on 20 December from 19:45 GMT.

The Lydian Singers want you to join them. Auditions will be held on 20 December at Farnborough Methodist Church.

Nature and Outdoors

Join staff at Swanwick Lakes Nature Reserve for a short walk looking for signs of life during the winter months on 5 January.
