Eight in court in children sex abuse case
Eight people accused of sexually abusing children in Hampshire, Lancashire, Berkshire and London over a 21-year period have appeared in court.
The seven men and one woman face 62 charges, mainly of sexual assaults against six children under the age of 16, Andover magistrates heard.
Between them, they are accused of abusing the children between 1988 and 2009 and a woman between 1977 and 1984.
They were all granted conditional bail until their next court appearance.
The defendants, aged between 29 and 67, are from Basingstoke and Baghurst in Hampshire; Reading, Wokingham and Winnersh in Berkshire, and Blackpool, Fleetwood and Accrington in Lancashire.
Three of the defendants will reappear before Winchester Crown Court on 25 November while the others are due before Winchester Magistrates' Court on 5 January.
