Girl, 17, withdraws Havant rape complaint

The rape of a 17-year-old girl in the woods of a housing estate in Hampshire did not take place, police have said.

Detectives closed the investigation after the girl withdrew her allegation.

Hampshire Police had cordoned off the area in Leigh Park, Havant, and increased patrols over the weekend following the girl's claims.

Det Insp Dave Sackman said: "We are now content that no assault took place and would like to reassure the community who live and travel in this area."
