Fareham Library closes for refurbishment
A Hampshire library is to remain closed for a month while it undergoes a £130,000 refurbishment.
Fareham Library will not open on Tuesday after the New Year holiday along with others in the county.
It will instead reopen on 1 February after self service terminals and a new information point have been installed.
Hampshire County Council said £13,000-worth of new stock will be added to the library, which will also be fitted out with new carpets and windows.
A community and learning room will be created along with more space for stock.
Borrowers are being allowed to take out up to 30 books to see them through the closure.
The council's culture and recreation councillor Keith Chapman said: "The refurbishment will give the library a new lease of life and it is hoped that the new classes, which will be held in the learning and community space, will encourage lots of new people to visit."
