Southampton city centre 'master plan' released

Plans for how Southampton's city centre could be transformed over the next two decades have been revealed.

Southampton City Council's "master plan" includes the regeneration of the railway station and waterfront as well as new housing and office developments.

The authority said it would make the city "a great place to do business, visit and live".

The plan cost £230,000 but the council said it could attract £3bn in investment.

A public consultation on more detailed aspects of the plans is due to begin in January.
